AGP is Spain's fourth-busiest airport and it feels it on summer weekends. This is what a smooth departure looks like in 2026 — from cutoffs and security to which terminal to walk to.

Nearly every flight leaves from Terminal 3, check-in floor 2. Arrive 2 h before Schengen, 2.5 h non-Schengen, 3 h long-haul. Security typically takes 10–25 min; Fast Track is €7.

T3 vs T2 — which terminal?
Terminal 3 handles 99% of scheduled traffic: all major low-cost carriers, all long-haul, and all UK flights. It has 20 boarding gates, six baggage belts and the full retail floor (Iberia Duty Free, El Corte Inglés Gourmet, La Tagliatella).
Terminal 2 is the older 1990s building next door. In 2026 it opens only at peak periods for summer charters — Condor, Sunwing, some Jet2 routes. If your boarding pass says T2 you enter through a separate door 200 m east of T3; there is a covered walkway.
Security and Fast Track
AGP has two security lanes at T3 (four in summer). Real 2026 waits: 5–10 min midweek, 15–25 min Friday and Sunday evenings, 30–45 min Saturday 07:00–09:30 in July and August. The airport rolled out C3 scanners in 2025 — liquids and laptops can stay in your bag at the new lanes; check the sign before you strip your rucksack.
Fast Track: €7 pre-booked at aena.es, €10 at the gate. Included free with British Airways Club Europe, Iberia Business, Emirates Business/First, and Priority Pass Executive.
What to do airside if you arrive early
The best food airside is La Tagliatella (proper Italian, gate B32) and the tapas counter at Gambrinus (gate D). The Sala VIP Pablo Ruiz Picasso lounge (Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or €35 walk-in) is above gate B; it has decent jamón, cava and views of the runway. There is a free water refill point beside gate B18.
Getting to the airport for your departure
Cercanías C1 train from Málaga Centro-Alameda or María Zambrano — €1.80, every 20 min, 12 min to the airport. Departures are drop-off floor 3; the train arrives at level 1, take the lift or the escalator on the north side. See our full how to get to the airport guide for taxi and bus timings.
