Where to see a film in English in Málaga.
Spain still dubs most cinema releases. That said, Málaga has one dedicated art-house cinema that programmes almost everything in original version, and two multiplexes that run reliable V.O.S.E. slots each week. Here is how to find them, and how to read a Spanish listing so you never sit through an accidental dub.

Look for the tag V.O.S.E. — versión original subtitulada en español. It means the film plays in its original language (usually English) with Spanish subtitles. The safest bet in the city centre is Cine Albéniz; Yelmo Plaza Mayor runs the most consistent multiplex V.O. sessions.

The cinemas, in detail
The city's public art-house cinema, run by the Málaga Film Festival. Almost all foreign films screen in V.O.S.E. (original version with Spanish subtitles). The reliable first stop for English-language films in Málaga.
Big multiplex inside the train-station mall. Blockbusters mostly dubbed; look for the 'V.O.S.E.' tag on individual sessions.
The most consistent multiplex for original-version screenings, particularly on Mondays and Wednesdays. Free parking, easy from the airport.
Worth knowing about if you're staying west of the city — a solid V.O. programme aimed at the Costa del Sol's large English-speaking resident community.
How to read a Spanish cinema listing
- V.O.S.E. — original soundtrack, Spanish subtitles. This is the one you want.
- V.O.S.I. — original soundtrack, English subtitles. Rare but useful.
- Doblada or no tag — dubbed into Spanish.
- Estreno — new release. Sesión matinal — early-morning screening, usually cheaper.
Beyond the multiplex
In March, the Málaga Film Festival takes over the city for ten days, with screenings across Cine Albéniz, the Cervantes Theatre and pop-up venues. Many sessions have subtitles or a Q&A in English. Check the festival programme in February for tickets.
